Description
J. N. Darby's purpose was, as he states in the preface to his English NT, to make a modern translation for the unlearned who have neither access to manuscript texts nor training and knowledge of ancient languages of the Scriptures. He was the principal scholar for a number of translations – and not the sole translator of any one of the various translations that bear his name. He worked with various brethren who had academic and spiritual qualifications. He also acknowledges dependence on the critical work of Samuel Prideaux Tregelles and various other scholars. Darby's translation work was not intended to be read aloud. His work was for study and private use. In his own oral ministry he generally used the English KJV. (Source: Wikipedia)
John Nelson Darby (18 November 1800 – 29 April 1882) was an Anglo-Irish Bible teacher, one of the influential figures among the original Plymouth Brethren and the founder of the Exclusive Brethren. He is considered to be the father of modern Dispensationalism and Futurism in the English vernacular. He produced a translation of the Bible based on the Hebrew and Greek texts called The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby.
Two Sparrows Bibles are meticulously designed for ease of navigation, a pleasure to read in any modes (night, day or sepia) with emphasis on typography and layout.
Pages have shortcuts that are subtle as to not interfere with the simplicity in the presentation of the text. Navigation is linked to verse numbers so you can jump to any addresses in the Bible with 3 or fewer touches. Some of the books such as Obadiah, Philemon, 2 John, 3 John and Jude require only 2 jumps.
